LT Nick Jones

Nick Jones's employer, Minter Ellison Rudd Watts, received a 2008 Employer of the Year Award for their continuing support of his part-time Army career.

“I am incredibly grateful for the support that Minter Ellison Rudd Watts provided for me when I was given seven months leave to be the Platoon Commander in the Solomon Islands.

Minter Ellison demonstrated true leadership and vision with senior colleagues seeing the deployment as part of my development as a lawyer and as a person.

In fact, my initial reticence to deploy due to concerns I had that I might fall behind in my legal career were strongly advised against by the firm.

My supervising partner at the time told me that “my grandchildren will be much more interested in an Army deployment as opposed to any kind of commercial dispute!”.

In this regard, Minter Ellison really did guide me in making the best decision I could ever have made in terms of my civilian career progression and practical leadership experience.”
